Population
There weren’t as many eagles as there use to be, because people would hunt for eagles and some people pollute, that makes the eagles sick and die. The problems with the shooting stopped because they had made a law. On June 28, 2007 the bald eagle was off the endangered list. Here is a graph that shows how the bald eagles have decreased over the years.Information from http://www.baldeagleinfo.com/ .

Food
Bald eagles usually eat fish but sometimes if there isn't any, then they will eat ducks, wading birds, turtle or a dead animal. They are also scavengers{ animals who eat other dead animals}. Information from http://www.indiana.edu/~bradwood/eagles/eat.htm .

Nesting and Young
The shape of the eagle nest or aerie is determined mainly by the branch point where it's built. Bald eagles build their nests on large trees near rivers or coasts. A typical nest is 5 feet in diameter. Some nests can be 9 feet in diameter, weighing 2 tons. Eagles often use their nests year after year.
The eggs in the Vancouver area eggs are laid in late March and early April, while in northern Canada and Alaska eggs are laid in May. In Florida, eggs are laid from November through January. The female lays a speckled off-white or buff colored egg about the size of a goose's. The female is the one who spends the most time sitting on the eggs. They also trade places but it is very tense. The wingspan ranges from 72 to 85 inches. Bald eagles weigh from ten to fourteen pounds. Northern birds are significantly larger than their southern relatives.

Bald Eagle History
More than 100,000 bald eagles were killed in Alaska from 1917 to 1953. Alaskan salmon fisherman feared they were a threat to the salmon population. Bald eagles were officialy declared an endangered species in 1967. The Endanger Act was signed in a law by president Richard Nixon in 1973. Our National Emblem
It is said the eagle was used as a national emblem because, at one of the first battles of the Revolution (which occurred early in the morning) the noise of the struggle awoke the sleeping eagles on the heights and they flew from their nests and circled about over the heads of the fighting men, all the while giving vent to their raucous cries. "They are shrieking for Freedom," said the patriots. The eagle became the United States emblem on 1782. This was found at http://www.baldeagle.com/eagle/eagle9.html .

Eagles of the World
Eleven species of eagles live on the forested shores of lakes, rivers, and oceans from the Arctic Circle to the tropics, excluding South America. The snakes and serpents eagles {smaller than the eagles that hunt for fish} hunt in the the tropicals forests of Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
Eyesight
They have excellent eyesight! Eagles can look forward and on the sides at the same time. Bald eagles are capable of seeing fish from 100 feet above! They also have the power to see a rabbit moving almost a mile away! Eagles, like all birds, have color vision. An eagle's eye is almost as large as a human's, but its sharpness is at least four times that of a person with perfect vision. This information was found at http://www.baldeagleinfo.com/eagle/eagle2.html .

I like how you are using the 'Center' button for the headings instead of spacing over with the space bar! Looks good so far. Don't forget to add links that show where you got your information and pictures. Mr M.

Hi JM and EN! It's KC, and I thought I would check out your wiki! I love it!!!! But one thing, I found another place where they live! When I drive from the Gunnison (CO) Airport to Crested Butte(CO), we pass lots of open farming fields with tall trees. And what do you know, when you look up you might see a bald eagle soaring right above your head!!! They live in the farming fields because field mice are running around like CRAZY!!! My dad says for bald eagles, mice is like the appetizer, fish are the main meal, and desert is whatever else they can find!!! Anyway I love your wiki!!!
