 Guppies - One of our Fancy Variegated Male Show Guppies.

Let's Learn About GUPPIES!!

 

 

Intro

 

We have learned about guppys for the last 2 weeks. And this is what we found out......                

 

                                                                                         

                                                                                                       SIZE

                                                  The female guppy is usually 4-6 cm long and the male is usually 2 1/2-3 1/2 cm long

 

 

BREEDING

The female guppy has about 2-100 baby fish. It takes about 9 weeks for them to hatch.

 

                                                                                                          HABITAT

                                            The original guppy is native to Central America, as well as Trinidad and northern South America.

                                      Today, many guppies can be found in Asia, especilly in Singapore

.

                                                                                              PREDATORS

                                    The animal that eats guppies are sharks. Also any animal that eats a fish

                                     will eat a guppy. Sometimes piranhas will also eat guppies.

 

                                                                                      FOOD

                                              The guppy eats algae, as well as other water plants and insect larva. They will sometimes even

                                          try to eat any other baby fish that will fit in the guppy if they are not well fed but usually don't.

 

                                                                                   LIFE SPAN

Guppies usually live about 2-3 years on average.

The guppy is named after the man Robert John

LIFE CYCLE

                                              The guppy are live-bearers. They do not lay eggs. Sometimes they have to be seperated from 

the perants.
